On Oct. 23, 1983, U.S forces were stationed in Beirut as peacekeepers during a religion-fueled conflict. Those involved in the conflict soon turned their sights on the peacekeepers, instigating the truck bomb that was driven into the headquarters building on that day. The explosion caused the building to collapse, killing 241 Americans. Another 32 of the men "who came in peace" later succumbed to their injuries.The community will again gather [...]
